Goda masala recipe

Goda Masala is a popular spice blend used in traditional Maharashtrian cuisine. Here is a recipe to make it at home:

Ingredients:

2 tbsp coriander seeds

2 tbsp cumin seeds

1 tsp black peppercorns

1 tsp black mustard seeds

1 tsp fennel seeds

1 tsp fenugreek seeds

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp dried coconut (optional)

4-5 cloves

2 cinnamon sticks

2 bay leaves

3-4 dried red chilies

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp salt

Instructions:

In a dry pan, roast all the whole spices (coriander seeds, cumin seeds, black peppercorns, black mustard seeds, fennel seeds, fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, and dried red chilies) on low heat until fragrant.

Add the roasted spices to a blender or spice grinder along with the turmeric powder, dried coconut (if using), cloves, sugar, and salt.

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder.

Store the Goda Masala in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
