Here is a simple recipe for Butter Chicken:
Ingredients:
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup heavy cream
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
1 tablespoon garam masala
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine the chicken with the yogurt and let marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours.
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion and cook until softened and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the garlic, ginger, garam masala, paprika, turmeric, cumin, and salt. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add the chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the tomato sauce and heavy cream. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with rice or naan bread.
